Syston Band are very pleased to have Chris Banks as Musical Director.  Chris has been working with us now since June 2015.

We have already had successes working with Chris with a first place at Oxford contest in February 2016 followed by an excellent 2nd place at the Regional Championships and qualification for the National Finals the following month.  The band is currently working hard rehearsing for the finals on 17 September 2016.

Syston Band is a friendly community 4th section brass band that offers a warm welcome to players of all ages and abilities.  We always welcome new members or guest players and are happy to help you improve your playing skills.  We practice at our premises on Syston Park which we fondly refer to as 'The Band Hut'.  We also run a beginner's group and offer lessons to anyone keen to learn.

Full band practice: Monday 7.45 - 9.45pm

The band undertakes annual Contests at the Midlands area, Leicestershire and new for 2016 Oxford and Wood Farm Entertainment Contest.  2015 saw the band enter the famous Whit Friday March contest and Butlins at a bracing Skegness.  We also have various summer and Christmas concerts and are proud to lead the Syston RBL Remembrance Parade each year.  Around Christmas time you are sure to find us lifting the Christmas spirits playing carols around the local town areas.

We are pleased to welcome a number of new members over the last year and are close to our full compliment of players.  We would welcome one more of each Front Row Cornet, and an Bb Bass player to complete a full band of regular players.

Want to know more about the band? Give us a call. Or just drop in for a chat and meet us in person. You are welcome to bring your instrument (or we'll lend you one) and sit in to have a blow.
